Part of my video editing journey has involved using lots of stock footage to make mock commercials, music videos, movie trailers, and so on. I’ve also been experimenting with LTX Studio and other programs to see what I could come up with.

The video generation for this trailer was done using Kling AI and LTX Studio.

But, other than using them to generate the individual movie clips, this project was done the old-fashioned way. I cut and colored it in DaVinci Resolve 19. Used songs from MotionArray.com. Did some work on the opening titles with Canva, BeFunky, and LTX Studio, and DaVinci’s basic titles tool.

All in all, the project took approximately 60 hours.

It still leaves a lot to be desired. And is far from a professional Hollywood film trailer.
But, it was more good practice for me … and a heck of a lot of fun!

I know there’s lots of concerns surrounding this burgeoning technology but I don’t see it going away. So, I’m learning as much about it as I can in hopes of not being left behind.

My guess is the art world will end up being divided between those folks who use these new tools and those who don’t. And I understand why.

Personally, I would never use any AI tool for any part of my writing process—not for generating ideas, not for writing the text, and not for correcting it.

But, I can see how A.I. video generation could come in handy for certain special effects and some of your more costly camera shots, especially for independent filmmakers.

Anyway, because I love making movie trailers—and am always looking for an excuse to do so—I recently entered the Chroma Awards competition, which offered contestants the chance to create anything from a short film, commercial, music video, movie trailer, and much more that substantially employed various A.I. tools.
