The Truffaut Affair Producer Lance B. Witmer (left) and Director and leading man Matthew Ben Miller are pictured on set during last August’s filming in downtown Los Angeles. Miller and Truffaut Affair writer Benjamin J. Gohs are currently working on their next project, a magical road trip adventure set in France.
After nearly a year-and-a-half since Director Matthew Ben Miller and moi conceived our bizarre and beautiful French New Wave Hollywood Noir … a magical romcom thriller adventure—genre? what genre?—we’re finally on the verge of getting a peek at the assembled footage!
The Truffaut Affair feature film, tentatively slated for release later this fall/winter, follows the adventures of Maurice Monet, a struggling actor entangled in an altered- reality Los Angeles populated by French spies, noir vixens, mimes, nuns, double-agents, time-traveling auteurs … and more.
Sacrebleu!
Thanks to the efforts of our super talented editor, we should be seeing the first rough cut of The Truffaut Affair by the end of March.
As this is the first feature film made from one of my scripts, I’m both excited and nervous. Mostly I’ve been keeping busy so as not to think about it.
To quote François Truffaut, “Some day I’ll make a film that critics will like—when I have money to waste.”
I don’t know if that’s a copout or show of confidence but I like it.

And, La vache fait meuh!
[It’ll make more sense when you see the movie.]
